The Riga Cathedral is one of the oldest religious buildings in Latvia and the Baltics and dates from the period of the Middle Ages. The Riga Cathedral is the cathedral of the Evangelical-Lutheran Archbishop of Latvia and the place of worship of the cathedral community. It is also the venue for the most important ecumenical worship in Latvia, as well as one of Riga's centers of organ music, which retains values of history, architecture, culture and art from different centuries. The cathedral has been an important venue for musical events in Riga and all over Latvia for several centuries. So it is nowadays, when the music of different centuries is heard both in worship services and in regular concerts in the cathedral.
